February 28, 2024 – Based on EpiCenter emergency department (ED) visit data, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health has seen an increase in the number of patients presenting to EDs for suspected drug overdose. Alerts (2) occurred for February 26th 11am through February 27th 12pm, totaling to 17 patients seen in our EDs for drug-related injuries, compared to an average of approximately 10 daily. Data analyses showed an unusual demographic pattern, specifically an increase in female youths.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office has not seen an increase in overdose deaths during this period.
