What We Do
safer use society
Social support for people who use substances, are on MAT/MOUD, or are looking for an alternative to traditional recovery support.
Safer Use Society is social support individuals actively using, on MAT, or those seeking an alternative to a 12-step program, and everything in between. We meet every week on Wednesday at 5:30pm. No abstinence required, no expectations, no judgment, just compassionate understanding & support. This is a hybrid style meeting, meaning that you can show up in person in Cleveland Heights or join online from anywhere via zoom.
We fully embrace harm reduction based programming and activities, we will host monthly skill shares, peer-peer community-based development, & culturally competent facilitation. This is not a 12-step group.

Transportation assistance available for those who want to attend in-person.
What’s offered: Safer sex & substance use supplies. Plus, free naloxone and training on how to use it, valuable resource connections, and a nourishing meal at each meeting.
Note: This meeting was created based on an expressed need from our staff with lived experience, our participants, and the community. These meetings are not meant to take a stance on substance use or any particular pathway to recovery, but to acknowledge that recovery isn’t one size fits all, it doesn’t always have to equal abstinence, and people in active use deserve an accepting space for social support.
